I don’t, I’m glad you’re interested, but be prepared for an essay on this guy because God I love him so much. XD; /shot

I’m actually not entirely sure why I like Desarm as much as I do. Which, at the same time, is probably one of the very reasons: he has this air that shrouds him in mystery, that seperates him from the other characters, and I really like that. Like, with Desarm, moreso than any other character, I honestly feel like soccer is his life, I have a hard time imagining him doing something other than practicing and reading in his spare time. XD; As I mentioned, he seems most socially awkward out of the Aliea captains, which makes him all the more interesting.

Something else that makes him stand out to me is his personality. I thought he was totally adorable in the Aliea arc, probably because most people think of him as creepy, but at the same time, he’s enjoying himself so much, almost like a little kid. Unlike so many other fictional characters, he longs for power not for himself, but for others to have so he can basically feel alive while playing against them. I can’t recall any other character that reacted to strong opponents the way he did. XD Aside from that, he’s determined, loyal, friendly, and despite his stubbornness, willing to admit defeat both times his team loses. I love the very end of eppie 77, when Neo Japan has lost and he acts all tsundere about it, but the very last part that’s shown is him smiling, spinning that attitude around and proving he can be a sincerely nice guy.

I also love how different he is from others in appearance. He’s not an adorable shota, he’s not an easy target for pervy Pixiv artists to turn into a rape victim, he looks fucking badass. I am in love with the Epsilon uniform and his hairstyle, I’ve never seen a guy use that solution for getting his long hair out of the way before (… let’s not mention his hairstyle in Go). XD I really like that he looks “creepy” in contrast with the others, and yet has such an outstanding personality, it makes him seem more real. Three details I adore are his pointy ears, black sclera, and the fact that his mouth is nearly pasted to his nose, have you ever noticed that? XD And of course, I want to marry that fabulous chest and those fabulous hips, just UNF. He may not be a shota but there’s still enough about his looks that I just wanna eat up. XD

Something else I’ve grown to adore are his leading skills, which I only admired more after seeing him in Go. I love the way he interacted with his teammates in both Epsilon and Neo Japan: it’s clear that he cared for them in both cases. He may be obsessed with power but he took his friends seriously, and he did just great observing the game and taking advantage of it when playing against Inazuma Japan, he was giving it his all and he exploited his strengths so well. Much like a lot of other fans, I was baffled about his, uhm, enthusiasm in Go, but after watching it a few times over, I thought he was exactly who he was ten years before. He was still determined, still supportive, extremely motivated and a great guy towards a team he wasn’t even the main coach of. In my opinion, he definitely has skills on both strategic and social levels as a captain, something I certainly can’t say about every other captain in the series.

His voice is not one of my favorite aspects, seeing as a fifteen-year-old would obviously never sound like that. He also sounds plain hilarious when pronouncing some hissatsus (God Knows, Gungnir), it’s hard to take him seriously sometimes. XD; But on the other hand, I love the way he says “Wormhole” and “Drill Smasher”. Just like the rest of his screentime, even the moments he fucks up the pronounciation on some words, he has a lot of passion in his voice there. He’s so calm, but at the same time so determined to reach his goals - which, again, is a contrast I find adorable. Also did I mention his AWESOME LAUGH, good bye ovaries. <3

Of course, he has his flaws, like his power fetish and not even being an officially recognized team but still wanting to blow Inazuma Japan out of the water and take their place. But again, I think that makes him more realistic and perhaps even relatable. He has his strong points and weak points, just like everybody else, and you could argue that that going as far as creating an entire team to play in FFI is just another demonstration of his determinacy.

I guess I decided to waste my time by looking more into this guy once, and this is pretty much what came out. XD; I really think there’s more to him than what you see. In short: he stands out from other characters in various ways from my point of view. He seems creepy and boring at first, but when paying attention to the details, he’s an awesome character, and that’s why I love him. <3
